about Joan

I’m an accomplished nonprofit and business professional, who builds on opportunities to support the efforts of others. Experience includes: Marketing and Communications Manager, Director of Development, National Marketing Manager, and Director of Public Relations and Development; I’ve served as Executive Director, as Chief Development Officer and have experience and education in broadcast (radio) and print journalism. I am a committed community volunteer, serving as allocations chair and grants committee member for the United Way of Greater St. Louis, event chair for the Kirkwood Des Peres Chamber of Commerce; I offer communications, fundraising and other support to nonprofits throughout our community that exist to better the lives of people who need help.

As a blogger, I have a personal affinity for the perspectives, experiences and expectations of baby boomers and older adults but I love to write about all people, places, and things.

I hope to eventually play the cello I’ve owned for years; I appreciate the absurdity and joyfulness of life, and good people.
